'Box of Me' Future Planning Drop-In for Free Wills Month
A safe and inclusive space to think more about plans for your care and end of life.
This is session will be held in person from 2-4pm as part of LGBT Foundation’s Community Cafe on 3rd October.
Drop-in – no need to book.
‘Box of Me’ is a fun and informative space for LGBTQ+ adults which invites you to think more about the plans you could put in place for your care and end of life. The aim of the workshop is to ensure you can be your authentic and full self throughout all of your lifetime (and beyond!). This session was created by LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Ageing programme in collaboration with St Ann’s Hospice (now Moya Cole Hospice).
How does the drop-in work? At our ‘box decoration’ table in the Community Cafe you will be provided with a box to personalise with available craft materials (while stocks last).
You will also be directed to a separate area where you can call at different ‘action’ stations to find out more about the plans you could be putting in place for serious illness or end of life care and add information about the things that are important to you to your box.
Topics you could explore include:• My life story, identity and who is important to me• My advance care plan and decision-making• My will• Donating my organs • What my funeral would look like
There will also be information available at the session about LGBT Foundation’s Free Wills Service with Octopus Legacy.
You are welcome to take your box and any information home to keep in a safe place for the future (make sure to tell a trusted friend or family member where it is).
This event is open to anyone aged 18+. This event has been produced by the Pride in Ageing programme at LGBT Foundation. If you have any questions about accessing this event please contact prideinageing@lgbt.foundation.
